After the attacks on Gaza in 2008/2009, young people wrote about their experiences of war. This led to “The Gaza Monologues,” which are still performed worldwide today. But because of the blockade of Gaza, they were unable to perform the play themselves.
In 2016, after two more wars, they received an invitation to perform their play at an international youth festival in Ramallah. It would be the first time any of them had traveled to the other part of Palestine, a 1.5-hour drive away—provided the Israeli authorities allowed them to leave.
The film follows seven young actors as they wait, rehearse, fear, and hope. The film shows their lives and daily routines under occupation, blockade, and war. But—and this is very important to them—they also talk about the beautiful aspects: theater, friendship, and love.
